AWHelp24 receives calls every day from car owners, who are in dire need of a tyre change on the roads of Germany.
The Ukrainian driver of a Volkswagen Golf suddenly had a tyre blowout
while driving on the A4 motorway near Jena, Germany, and was missing a
spare tyre. He used the internet and found the number of AWHelp24's
roadside assistance on Google: www.awhelp24.com
The AWHelp24 operator determined the size and brand of the tyre
and the coordinates of the Volkswagen Golf. The tyre required was a
size 225/45 R17.
The problem was, that the car owner was short on time and money.
Normally, the operator calls a tow truck to the place of the
breakdown. The tow truck takes the car to the nearest tyre workshop
and the wheel is repaired there.
The price ranges from about 200 Euro for the tow truck and at least
100 Euro for the tyre, fitting included.
It is possible to send a mobile tyre service to the accident site. The
prices would be even higher however, and there are long waiting times due
to the pandemic.
After much consideration, the car owner set a sum of one
hundred and fifty euro. This was all he could spend on the repairs. The nearest tyre shop that had an
inexpensive wheel of the right size was found 5 km away from the
location of the Golf. The car owner removed the broken wheel himself
and the helpdesk operator called a taxi for him.
The taxi driver took him to a tyre fitting shop and brought him back,
after which he fitted the wheel himself.
The whole procedure took two hours and cost the Ukrainian citizen €150.
