Tyre change on a Schmitz tipper trailer. A DAF was stopped on the A7
motorway 15 kilometres from Kassel in Germany.
An agitated Romanian driver called the AWHelp24 international road
assistance hot line this morning, after his DAF truck was stopped by the
BAG traffic police on the A7 motorway as he was approaching the city
of Kassel. The tyres on the Schmitz trailer were in a poor state of
repair and presented a danger to other road users. The driver did not
understand German and could not say a word.
Fortunately, he had the number of AWHelp24, the international haulier
assistance service, written down in his phone and he called
immediately. The AWHelp24 operator, who is fluent in German and
Romanian, asked the driver to put the policeman on. The operator found
out the location of the DAF, the tire size 385/65R22.5 and dispatched
an on-site tyre service team with a tyre to replace it. Thanks to
