Schmitz trailer breakdown near the city of Leipzig in Germany.
An accident befell the driver of an MAN near the entrance to the eastern German city of Leipzig. The MAN was carrying 9-tonne cylinders from Belarus into Germany.
When the truck was only 250 kilometres away from the unloading point, the cylinders slid forward after hard braking at a traffic light and destroyed the front end of the trailer. Fortunately no-one was injured in the incident. The Schmitz trailer however was badly damaged.
The reason was, that the cargo had been loaded incorrectly and was not properly secured.
The head of a transport company from Belarus asked AWHelp24, a service providing assistance to international hauliers on the roads of Germany and Western Europe, for help.
The director of the transport company sent another truck to the accident site and the AWHelp24 operator arranged for safe loading & unloading and the repair of the Schmitz trailer at the nearest AWHelp24 service station.
