The defective engine of a CLAAS JAGUAR field chopper was delivered from Thuringia, near Erfurt, to the Autowelt GmbH workshop in Niederlauer. Our mechanics cleaned the OM502LA, dismantled it and identified, which individual parts needed replacement. The crankshaft had to be changed along with the pistons and liners, both turbos of the V8 were dysfunctional, the injection nozzles were broken and that was just the start.
After consultation with the customer, we ordered the required spare parts and got to work. First, the new liners were pressed into the engine block and the washed cam- and crankshafts from the original manufacterer were installed in accordance with the guidelines. Since the old connecting rods as well as their bearings could no longer be used, we replaced them with new parts as well. Throughout the process we renewed the worn gaskets, replaced the broken fuel pump as well as the broken injectors and turbochargers, before subsequently fitting fresh oil- and airfilters. Soon, the now repaired engine was fully assembled again and completed its two-hour test run without issues.
